So far, Society of Work’s 10-year birthday celebrations have been INCREDIBLE. We’ve had food trucks, game nights, and morning yoga. What could get better than that?
I’m glad you asked.

On August 12, 2023, Society of Work will be partnering with Chattanooga’s very own Crabtree Farms! Our volunteer day is open to everyone, and we want YOU to be a part of it!
About the Event
“One of the core values of Society of Work is community. This goes both for our community of members within our walls and our surrounding community of Chattanooga. We love to partner, connect, and collaborate with others. As one of our events, we’re having a day when we give back to our community through volunteer work!
Crabtree Farms is a community-focused urban farm committed to education, food access and sustainable agriculture.
What to expect:
Activity level is moderate to high. Some bending, squatting, lifting included in all tasks; however, there are some options for folks with a little bit more limited mobility or may need some shady options (like washing and produce packing).
Tasks include, but are not limited to: harvesting, weeding, produce packing/sorting and general field maintenance.
We ask that volunteers wear closed-toed shoes, wear sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.) and bring a water bottle.” -Mary and Lauren

Crabtree Farms
Crabtree is more than just a farm: they are an organization committed to providing fresh produce to their surrounding community! Located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this organization is doing the most.
Not only do they support their community members, they also educate them! Crabtree Farms gives regularly holds workshops and farm visits, as well as informative blogs and tasty recipes. These services give volunteers practical knowledge and skill to keep the trend going! Here’s a quote from their website:
“We believe in engaging hands, large and small, in activities that bring them closer to the earth, preserve traditions, and bring joy. We create active food citizens that grow the vitality of residents and the surrounding area as a whole.”
We love Crabtree Farms because we share a key value: connection. Connection with the spaces around us and with the people around us. Even if you can’t make our event, be sure to check out volunteering with Crabtree Farms anyway!
