Erwin Ovalle is building his passion project here in his space at Society of Work. His story is unique in how he chased his dreams and found a way to make them come true — both in his personal and professional life.
Erwin told us his passions are continuing to evolve. “A number of years ago, I began what I felt was my biggest dream — to open my own restaurant. At the time, it drove me.” He treated his customers like family and put his heart into the art of food and hospitality.
Over time, Erwin’s passion evolved and he came up with a new, more profitable way to make a difference and become sustainable in business. He discovered the need for a new type of service and took off with it, so Management Cleaning Services (MCS) was born. MCS is a fully integrated janitorial and building maintenance service company.
“We strive to create a corporate culture in which the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable growth are embedded in our everyday practices.“
Erwin’s mission is to grow MCS, not just as a cleaning business but in the implementation of recycling programs and helping his clients go green.
With a desire to work with Chattanooga’s diverse population, Erwin offers support to the Latino community. He continues to give back by cooking and serving delicious food through his catering business, Ovalle’s Catering and Events, in addition to his work with MCS. He even collaborates with private schools in the area to cater and teach children the importance of healthy food choices.
As a member of Society of Work, Erwin has been able to take advantage of the community and support we offer. It has helped him make many valuable connections with other small business owners and community leaders. Being surrounded with innovative entrepreneurs and leaders is constant motivation for him.
“The ability to join forces in brainstorming and bounce ideas off of each other is significant. Even though we are working on our own projects, the gifts and talents of those at Society of Work have been an asset for me every day. We give each other realistic feedback while learning from each other’s business and life experiences.”
Erwin told us that his true desire in life is to serve others. “My faith drives and sustains me, bringing me hope and joy in the process,” he said. He feels that the challenges and obstacles he faces in running a business are helping him grow and learn as an individual. His goal at MCS is to continue to grow and build awareness for protecting the environment.
Even though Erwin has had opportunities to move and work in other cities, Erwin feels that Chattanooga is where he should be. He has been in Chattanooga for fifteen years and is proud to call this city his home.
“I see big things in our future and I am compelled to stay here and watch it grow and evolve. My expectations for our city are vast as we come together to collaborate in business and community. I know we are going to continue to learn from each other and grow our community as we walk out our individual passions together.”
